Our Engagement and Story

We started Nicole and Taylor’s engagement session at Wormsloe Historic Site with a champagne toast, just like the morning he proposed.

“We had traveled to Seneca, South Carolina, for Nicole’s family’s Thanksgiving. I had convinced her to go on a walk that morning with me and our new puppy, Birdie. Prior, I asked my brother and her sister to scout out the trail and find a good spot to photograph the moment. I asked her at the beginning of the trail to marry me, telling her she was the greatest thing to ever happen to me, and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. Afterward, our family met us with champagne, and we had a great hike.”

And of course, sweet Birdie also made an appearance in their engagement shoot! After picking up Birdie from a friend at Wormsloe’s entry gate, we drove a mile or so down to Bluff Drive, to finish out the evening.

And that ring! The diamond was passed down from Taylor’s great grandmother, and the setting is from a family jeweler in San Antonio. PERFECTION!

And let’s back all the way up to how these two met. I love this story. They met on a random Friday night at the Dark Horse Tavern in Atlanta in 2017. Nicole had just finished work, and her friends dragged her out for a quick drink. Taylor was visiting friends for the weekend and was already imbibing when he noticed Nicole.

“She was very striking, and I truly liked her hair. It was effortless but beautiful,” Taylor said.

“I liked his style. He was wearing black on black with a huge smile on his face as he approached me,” Nicole said. “I was completely sober, just got done working a long Saturday night shift at a restaurant with my slicked back work bun, which he called, word-for-word, ‘the most attractive hairstyle a woman could wear.’ I thought he was full of it.”

“I thought she was a little stuck up since she wouldn’t give me her phone number, but it was worth the try,” Taylor said. She did give him her Instagram name. “She ended up being very nice over messaging, which led me to eventually ask her out.”

Yep, definitely worth it!
